About Natural Person Certificate
A Natural Person Certificate is a digital certificate issued to an individual (a real person) by a trusted Certificate Authority (CA). It is used to verify the identity of the certificate holder in electronic transactions and communications. This certificate binds a person's verified identity with a public cryptographic key, enabling secure digital activities such as authentication, encryption, and digital signing.
Who Can Obtain a Natural Person Certificate?
Natural Person Certificates are issued to individuals after a verification process performed by the Certificate Authority. Eligible applicants may include:
- Private individuals
- Employees of organizations
- Government officials
- Professionals who require secure digital identity

How to Apply for a Natural Person Certificate?
Government and legal entities shall be enrolled at ECAC's Web RA portal before they are able to apply for certificates from ECAC Issuing CAs. The Government or legal entity performs the following steps to share the needed details with ECAC RA:
- A representative from the Government or legal entity contacts ECAC by sending an email to ecac.certification.info@pki.gov.pk
- The Government or legal entity representative expresses their needs in the email
- ECAC RA responds with the necessary information needed from the Government or legal entity representative
- The Government or legal entity representative is required to fill and submit a form to ECAC RA
Once the Government or legal entity has been registered with the ECAC, the entity representative can fill and submit the certificate application form
